Amed SK vs Eyupspor Preview

There are not many better stories in European football right now than Amed SK. A club from Diyarbakir making their Super Lig debut, sitting second in the table with nine matches played, and breathing down Galatasaray’s neck. It almost sounds made up. But here we are, and on Sunday morning they welcome Eyupspor to Diyarbakir Stadyumu in what, on paper, looks like the most lopsided fixture of the Turkish top-flight weekend.

Amed have 20 points from nine games. Eyupspor have three. The visitors are rock bottom, six consecutive league defeats deep, and carrying the worst attack and the worst defence in the division. This is not a case of a struggling side that might nick something on the road — this is a team in genuine freefall, without a goal in six straight matches. The gulf between these two sides right now is enormous, and Amed will know it.

For Besnik Hasi’s side, this is an opportunity to keep the pressure on Galatasaray and cement their position as genuine title contenders rather than a feelgood story. They need to do the job that their form demands they do. For Eyupspor, survival is the only conversation that matters, and they desperately need something — anything — to cling to before the season slips entirely away from them.

Amed SK vs Eyupspor Form

Amed’s form since that opening defeat to Kocaelispor has been nothing short of outstanding. Seven unbeaten across the league with five wins and two draws, including back-to-back victories over Konyaspor and then Samsunspor, where they came from behind to win 2-1. That second-half comeback on the road tells you something important about this group — they have character as well as quality, and they do not fold when it gets difficult. Gift Orban and Dia Saba both got on the scoresheet at Samsunspor, and those two have been the engine of a truly prolific attack.

The numbers at Diyarbakir Stadyumu are particularly striking. Amed have won all five of their home league games this season, scoring 14 goals in those fixtures and conceding just three. They have found the net at least twice in seven of their nine league outings overall. Only Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor have scored more in the division. For a newly promoted side, this is extraordinary output, and it makes home fixtures look like very comfortable territory.

Eyupspor’s campaign has been a disaster from start to finish. Eight defeats from nine league games, with their solitary win coming way back in round two against Alanyaspor. Since Mustafa Dalci came in to replace Ozhan Pulat as gaffer, things have not improved — the 1-0 home loss to Kasimpasa being the most recent evidence of that. Six games without a goal, 23 conceded across the season, and four defeats in four away matches. There is no upturn in momentum here, no tactical shift that has sparked a reaction. Eyupspor look like a side that has simply not got enough to compete at this level.

Amed SK vs Eyupspor Head to Head

All previous meetings between these two clubs came in the second division, so Sunday represents the first time they have faced each other in the Super Lig. Eyupspor’s only win in the last eight encounters was a 3-1 victory back in March 2019 — the rest of that record reads three draws and four defeats for the Istanbul club. It is a head-to-head that leans comfortably in Amed’s favour historically, and given the current contrast in form and league position, there is very little reason to expect Sunday to buck that trend.

The venue is a significant factor here too. Amed’s home record this season has been immaculate, and Diyarbakir Stadyumu has proven a tough place for visiting sides to come and take anything. Eyupspor, who have not won away from home all season and who cannot buy a goal at the moment, face a seriously difficult afternoon in front of what will be a lively and expectant home crowd.

Amed SK vs Eyupspor Lineups

Amed go into this one without Mbaye Diagne, who picked up a red card against Samsunspor and will serve his suspension here. That is a notable absence — Diagne has been a physical presence and a consistent contributor up top. Lumbardh Dellova is also out after accumulating too many yellow cards, while Dilhan Demir remains on the sidelines with a fitness problem and Yira Sor is racing to be fit but looks unlikely to make it in time. The expected lineup sees Orban lead the line, with Saba stepping into a more prominent role in Diagne’s absence. Given Saba has five league goals already this season, Hasi will not be losing too much sleep over the enforced change.

Eyupspor are set to be without Ahmed Abdullahi, who is serving the final match of a three-game ban, meaning Yusuf Barasi is expected to lead their attack once more. Emre Bilgin should continue in goal. The visitors’ expected lineup looks light in attacking threat at the best of times, and against an Amed back line that has been solid at home, it is hard to see where Dalci’s side find the goal they so desperately need.

Amed SK vs Eyupspor Tactics

Hasi sets Amed up in a way that makes full use of their attacking depth — a fluid front line with Orban as the focal point and Saba and Khalil providing movement and creativity either side of him. They press with real intensity higher up the pitch, which has caused all sorts of problems for opposition defences this season. At home, they tend to be brave on the ball and commit numbers forward, knowing their back four and Raveloson in midfield can handle whatever comes the other way. The wide areas through Ballet and Khalil are key — both look to stretch defences and create space centrally for Orban and Saba to exploit.

Eyupspor will almost certainly set up in a low block and try to limit the damage. With no goals in six games, they cannot realistically come here looking to attack and trade blows — the priority will be staying compact and making themselves hard to break down. The problem is that even their defensive shape has not held up this season, having let in 23 goals in nine matches. Against Amed’s attack, particularly with the home crowd roaring them on, it is going to be very hard for Dalci’s side to keep things tight. If Amed find an early goal, this could turn into a very long afternoon for the visitors.

Amed SK vs Eyupspor Prediction and Betting Tips

This one sets up about as clearly as any fixture you will find in the Super Lig right now. Amed are flying at home, full of goals, and facing a side that has not scored in six games and cannot win away from home. The absences of Diagne and Dellova are worth noting, but Orban and Saba have the quality to carry the attack, and the overall balance of this fixture points overwhelmingly in one direction. Eyupspor have shown no signs of turning the corner, and a trip to Diyarbakir is not where that turnaround is going to happen.

The pick is Amed to win and both teams to score is not appealing given Eyupspor’s inability to find the net — instead, backing Amed with a handicap looks the smarter play. They have the firepower and the home advantage to win this comfortably, and the -1 handicap reflects the true gulf in class between these two sides right now.
